A commission plan is a contract with your reps. If it's vague, every unusual deal becomes an argument. Copy the sections below, replace the bracketed values, and have each rep sign it.
This plan runs from [1 January 2027] to [31 December 2027]. It applies to [Account Executives] employed in good standing on the last day of each [month].
Credit is the [first-year contract value, excluding tax and one-time fees] of deals marked Closed Won in [CRM] during the period. Credit is assigned to the deal owner on the close date.
Credit earns commission at these marginal rates: [5%] on credit up to [$50,000] per [month]; [8%] from [$50,000] to [$100,000]; [12%] above [$100,000]. Each rate applies only to the credit inside its band.
Your quota is [$60,000] per [month]. Credit above quota earns [1.5×] the applicable rate.
When more than one rep works a deal, credit is split by the percentages recorded in [CRM] before the deal closes, and must total 100%. Without a recorded split, the deal owner receives 100%.
If a customer cancels or is refunded within [90] days of the close date, the credit is deducted in the month of the refund. Refunds after [90] days do not affect commission.
Commission is calculated after month end and paid with the [second] payroll of the following month, with a statement showing every credited deal.
Raise questions about a statement within [30] days. The company may change this plan with [30] days' written notice; changes are not retroactive.

Use these to track deals and reps in a format the calculator imports directly:
Enter the same rates, quota, accelerator and clawback window as a plan in CommissionSheet, import your deals, and every rep gets a statement that matches the document above line by line.
