Enter a rep's sales and your tiers to see the payout under a marginal plan and a retroactive plan side by side.
Marginal (also called "stepped" or "cumulative") plans pay each tier's rate only on the sales inside that tier. Retroactive plans pay the highest tier reached on all sales. Retroactive plans create big jumps at tier boundaries — a rep $1 short of the next tier earns far less than one $1 over — which can encourage pulling deals between months. Marginal plans are smoother and more common.
marginal = Σ (credit inside tier × tier rate)
retroactive = total credit × rate of the highest tier reached
This page handles one rep and three tiers. The full calculator handles any number of tiers, reps and plans, plus quota accelerators, deal splits and clawbacks — straight from a CSV of your deals.
